Compañía Nacional de Chocolates launches the Traceability and Zero Deforestation Program (PTCD) with Farmforce as a strategic ally

The Compañía Nacional de Chocolates (CNCh) has announced the official launch of the Traceability and Zero Deforestation Program (PTCD), an initiative that seeks to ensure responsible cocoa production, aligned with the highest global sustainability standards. This innovative program has the strategic alliance of Farmforce, a leading Norwegian platform in traceability solutions, which will allow CNCh to comply with the new European Union Deforestation-Free Products Regulation (EUDR) and the sustainability standards of large clients in other geographies.

Since 1958, the Purchasing and Agricultural Development Team of CNCh has maintained a strong commitment to the development of the cocoa sector, operating with high standards of quality and sustainability. With the PTCD, the company reinforces its commitment to environmental protection, ensuring that its products do not contribute to deforestation. The program focuses on guaranteeing the transparency of the supply chain, from cultivation to processing, to ensure that the cocoa used comes from sustainable and traceable sources.

The PTCD incorporates Farmforce’s advanced technology to track the origin of agricultural products in real time. This allows CNCh to verify compliance with environmental, social and labor regulations at each stage of the supply chain. With Farmforce as our ally, we are taking our traceability efforts to the next level. Not only can we ensure compliance with the EUDR, but we can also provide our consumers with the certainty that our products are 100% environmentally responsible.

First results and future goals

Since the launch of the PTCD in May 2024, CNCh has managed to register 4,500 cocoa farmers in 70 small farmer associations and cooperatives. By the end of the year, the goal is to reach 5,500 farmers, thus strengthening the deforestation-free supply chain. In addition to guaranteeing traceability, the program will also integrate Human Rights Monitoring and Remediation Surveys.

A decisive step towards a more sustainable future

With the launch of the PTCD, CNCh reaffirms its leadership in sustainability in the chocolate industry, protecting natural resources and ensuring the well-being of communities. This program represents a key advance in CNCh’s vision of building a value chain that is environmentally responsible and deforestation-free.
